Kawasaki Australia Pty Ltd is a 100% owned subsidiary of Japan's Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha ("K" Line) and was established in 1970 to represent "K" Line's interest and business in Australia. The company originally operated as a regional office to promote "K" Line's shipping business of Container, Bulk and Car Carrier services.
In 1996, a new company, "K" Line (Australia) Pty Ltd, was established to take over the total shipping agency and operations of "K" Line at all ports in Australia. The new company opened with five offices at Melbourne (Head Office), Sydney (Kawasaki's Head Office), Fremantle, Brisbane and Adelaide.
The company’s position today is one of strong “K” Line spirit, dedication and steadfast commitment. “K” Line’s worldwide fleet of vessels consists of Car Carriers (PCC), Product Carriers including Tankers and LNG carriers, Conventional Vessels and Bulk Carriers.
“K” Line has established itself as a true worldwide major shipping line. Apart from the carriage of containerized cargo, it moves in excess of 1.1 million motor vehicles annually and is also involved in the transport of bulk ores, grains, woodchips, coal, alumina as well as crude oil, LNG and other energy resources.
